Another high ranking Savannah State officer is off the job amid growing harassment allegations. On August 16, Sgt. Nathaniel Copeland “resigned in lieu of termination,” according to the university. This follows the termination of former Savannah State University Police Chief James Barnwell back in May.

Abda Quillian is representing two of three female officers who have filed EEOC complaints. “It’s always about power and control and how can I force my desires and gain sexual favors from you,” explains Quillian. “He was a sergeant. He was in charge of assigning overtime. He had a great benefit he was able to dangle and would send texts to female officers commenting on how sexy they are. When they were off-duty, where are you? What are you wearing? So dreadfully inappropriate and so blatantly sexual.”
